What does it take to become a Circut Overseer?

the watchtower bible track society relies very heavily upon these men to make sure that they have a tight grip on each congregation.. the structure for control that the wt.
has in place needs it's eyes and ears to find out whether or not a congregation is following all the rules that the wt has laid out for it.

Features of a good CO:-
No feeling - do what the wtbs says
Follow the book - bring everyone into line who is not
CYA - incase things go wrong - make sure nothing is pointing at you
Be like bill clinton - be the teflon kid, nothing sticks
Be humble - you get paid more "gifts" that way
Frighten people over one issue ' they feel you are more spiritual

Today is my birthday
by yxl1 injust thought i'd let you'll know that today is my 34th birthday.
i recieved loads of gifts which my kids helped me open (i think they were more excited than i was).
i've been noticing a few grey hairs showing recently and its becoming more of a struggle to keep my waist size down.

JW Signs on With National Coalition for Drug Policy Change!

he listed the words (ministerial service) beside his name.
he signed on under the classification of (clergy).. there were two different documents, with two different dates, one signed in 1994, and the other in 1995. the documents however, look almost identical, with only different dates.. go here and keep scrolling down until your scroll bar gets to be about 1/2 of the way down, look for 3 reverends names to be listed in a row, just above farris lee huff.. go here for 1995 document:.

Just to kind of round this one off
Reading peoples comments I have found that - although to some I am a "Little South", nevertheless there seems to have been a nerve touched here
I speak from personal experience. I gave up trying to be kind, moderate, helpful and loving. I was hounded out of the BOE - yet my concience is clear. Politics plays a huge role in the BOE. The hard liners get the bigger jobs.
Reading through the posts I thought all of you were in my cong!! Same the world over. The christlike are **** upon and the hardliners bulldoze there way through. Yet the generation of elders we took over from (I'm 50) were christlike, were caring, were forgiving and loving.
Whats happened?
Now its who is best selling the books, and eforcing - they are the elders now. What does the future hold?

Body of Elders commitees are always as follows
1. Lesser sin (Smoking, Confession (please forgive, Snogging and groping etc). 2 Younger Elders and 1 hardline (always the head of the committee)
2. Fornication, adultary - 2 hardline elders and one younger elder
3. Elders children, elders adultry, major cases, apostasy -then you get the 3 hardline elders whose mission is to "keep the congregation clean"
NB These 3 elders will be the ones on circuit/district assemblies - thats how you progress as an elder, be hardline on judicial matters

I've been with this lot for 35 years - 12 of them as an elder.
Rule number one - no-one cares. I'f you've attempted suicide they will publicy reprove you and tell you to go more on the work (big help), if you've been disfellowshipped then "its in Gods hands - but Jehovah won't show compassion because the one who committed suicide turned his/her back on Jehovah. Rule Number two - if you want to get on as an Elder- be seen as a hard line, law enforcer. Disfellowship someone senior (pref another Elder) and you are seen as theocratic, strong and righteous. Rule number three - As an Elder - if you show compassion, reason or care - then the other elders make your life a misery (I know thanks - its what happened to me)
In your congregation - How many depressed, mentally ill, suicidal people do the elders visit to try and offer practical help - answer? The majority cannot be bothered - but they will chase you up if your report is late
